ECOTHOR®-EC

ECOTHOR®-EC is a patented, cost-effective and green treatment process that utilizes electrocoagulation to treat and eliminate complex organics, total suspended solids, heavy metals, emulsified oils, phosphates, ammonia, other contaminants from water. The process is completely automated and includes real-time water quality monitoring, data logging, and controls that guarantees compliance with discharge criteria.

The ECOTHOR® reactor has a cylindrical shape which provides an optimum balance between three principal phenomena: electrochemistry, coagulation and hydrodynamics. This balance leads to the elevated contaminant abatement performance of the technology. The inter-electrode spacing, the continuous current use and the applied anodic surface (alloys of magnesium, aluminum or iron) all allow for water treatment at very low conductivities and at a reduced energy consumption.

ECOTHOR® –  Electrotechnology Platform

ECOTHOR® is the next-generation technology for the removal & recovery of nutrients, the reduction of micro-contaminants, the elimination of microorganisms and the advanced oxidation of complex organics.

ECOTHOR® is a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for advanced wastewater treatment.

Low OPEX – proprietary anode design with an optimized power management system ensures low operating costs.

Low CAPEX – flexible reactor sizing ensures that the system can easily scale up from less than 10 m3/d to more than 5,000 m3/d.

Electrocoagulation

Electrocoagulation (or electrochemical coagulation) is a water treatment process whereby an electric current is applied across metal anodes to remove various contaminants from water. The metal cations dissolved in the wastewater are complexed to form hydroxide ions, and these compounds act as a coagulant. By controlling the amperage, the coagulant dosage can be adjusted to meet the treatment goals. Although the electrocoagulation mechanism resembles chemical coagulation, some differences benefit electrocoagulation. Indeed, electro-coagulated flocs differ from those generated by chemical coagulation. Flocs created with the electrocoagulation process tend to contain less bound water, are generally more resistant to shearing and are typically more easily filterable.

E2metrix electrocoagulation technology does not use hazardous chemicals. Anodes are selected depending on the treatment application. E2metrix’s technology is protected by an extensive patent portfolio.
