E2metrix is proud to announce the start-up of its ECOTHOR system at the Régie de gestion des matières résiduelles de la Mauricie (RGMRM) in Saint-Étienne-des-Grès, for the removal of zinc from its technical landfill leachate.

Between 2014 and 2016, a search for a solution to meet zinc discharge regulations was initiated, without success.

“There is no technique, no solution anywhere,” stated RGMRM president, René Goyotte, in an article published in La Presse on April 20th, 2016.

A pilot project was initiated by E2metrix in collaboration with the RGMRM on site at Saint-Étienne-des-Grès. The ECOTHOR system was put to the test for removal of zinc from the leachate. The results were impressive and as a result, the customer decided to install a full-scale ECOTHOR system to meet their needs.

Since early June 2019, the ECOTHOR system, at a capacity of 685 m3/day, is in full operation and the customer is meeting the environment discharge standards.
Mohamed Laaroussi, President & CEO of E2metrix, said, “The success of this project is due to our exceptional team which persevered over the past few years on ECOTHOR’s development and optimization. This facility will serve as an important foundation for ECOTHOR’s market growth in the municipal and industrial sectors, both here and abroad. Thank you to the Régie and to all stakeholders involved in this project for their precious collaboration.”
